The very first
contest winner, Lys Assia in 1956, returned to defend her crown
the next year, becoming the first of many winners to enjoy that
thrill of victory so much that they had to give it another go.
Here is a look at the fortunes of those Eurovision winners who
thought they could repeat the magic. By the way, returning
winners who fell at the national final hurdle are not included
(sorry Vicky Leandros).
